Before and After 1940's Seattle Home - Reader Remodel

Image
Oh lovely (rainy) Seattle  :-) I can say that because that is where I grew up.  It is lovely, but I will say, it DOES rain all the time!   My very close friend and her husband recently finished remodeling their Seattle home.  I asked if they would send me some pictures to show you guys as it is amazing what they did! My Friends Original 1940's Seattle Home Their house was built in 1947. It's so funny how the social times change over the years.  I guess no one wanted to be part of the fun if they were in the kitchen - LOL.  The whole  "open floor plan" seemed non existent!   Let's take a quick look at the1940's :-) Christian Dior's "crazy" fashion statement was this: The kind of car parked in the neighborhood: And if you were to go to the movies - the ladies would be swept away with Clark Gable and the love scenes of Gone With the Wind :-) Here is their LIVING ROOM before: ...

Before and After Kitchen Remodel - Tips on Making a Small Kitchen Appear Larger

Image
Hello! One of my friends just finished an amazing kitchen remodel.  I know all of you guys enjoy seeing before and after pictures so I sent a text saying, "Send me your before and after pics" and immediate I got a response "You mean I'll have to clean my kitchen?"  hee,hee.....my type of friend!   So here is what my pickleball friend had to deal with when she moved into her new home.  What's wrong? Haven't you always dreamed of having a pink and baby blue kitchen?  HA! Her husband is one of those men that can do ANYTHING - The Mr. Fix It Man  Extreme.  I'd LOVE to go into flipping homes with him.  I would tell him my vision and he would whip it out (ya, if only life was that simple!) And a few months later - this beautiful kitchen evolved :-)  Her husband did ALL of it :-) Is that a flashlight and a bag of chips on the counter?? hee,hee.....I guess she's a real person - LOL! Aren't ...

My Decorating Trip to New Hampshire - A Few Fun Before and Afters.

Image
Hi everyone! I had a fantastic weekend helping my friend decorate her home .  They are having the new sofas delivered on Wednesday so I can't put up complete before and after pictures until they arrive but I can show you  guys a few pictures.  One of my favorites is their cute nook we turned into a little garden cove :-) When I arrived I immediately put my friend to work spray painting her mirrors and shiny brass lamps :-) Here is another sneak peak at the end results :-)  We even recruited a neighbor to chop down part of his birch tree so we could add some birch logs to our project.  I adore birch logs, you can see an entire decorating with birch log post by clicking over to it. How to Decorate with Birch Logs What you can do with Birch Logs I love this little vignette on top of the console table her husband made . We hung lots of pictures, a few mirrors, drapes and a clock.  Phew, I think ...

Favorite American Clay Jobs - Before and After Showcase!

Image
Happy Friday Everyone! I have been doing an American Clay project all week long.  I'll take the final "after" photos some time today but here is a sneak peak of all the colors I used - I had fun mixing and being "artistic" on each wall. 1) Savannah moss (it was actually more a brown than green) 2) Chesapeake Bay (very blue/grey) 3) Snow Canyon  (clay in it's natural whitish state) Since I have American Clay on my mind, I thought it would be fun to do a post on some of my past clay projects.  A little Before and After Showcase. :-) Before ENTRY with Colorado Red Clay - skip troweled After Tuscan Gold clay over concrete walls (this was an all green thermal mass home). After (such a pretty glowing color) One of my favorite clay projects was this guest room.  She wanted me to "age" the fireplace hood and then paint a true fresco of an antler.  It was HUGE (or else I just have a tin...

Colorado Red American Clay Before and After Entry

Image
My in-laws are my neighbors and yes, it's a GREAT thing :-)   They have been gone for 2 months in Ireland.  While they were away, one of their closest friends  heavily encouraged me to do their entry in American Clay before they came back.  I had talked about it forever with my mother in law and I knew she would be very blessed so I buckled down and began the project. So, instead of reading my great novel (ha, I don't have time to read!) I got all the stuff out of my garage and walked over their house and got right to it. Here are the BEFORE shots. Upon walking in the door. And magically after many days and many hours - this appeared! Before: AFTER! OK so I'll go back a few steps :-)  Step one:  Initiate a helper....a willing child is a great choice :-) Apply one coat of American Clay Earth Plaster.  Tell me that looks good enough to eat. :-) After it dries, skip...
